All students who study Spanish also study French. This means that there must be a small circle representing Spanish inside a big circle representing French.

Hence, the small circle which is inside the large circle represents Spanish and the big circle represents French.

Some students who study German also study Spanish. This is represented by the intersection between the second big circle and small circle. The second big circle represents German.

The shaded area represents those who study both French and German but not Spanish.
