Currently, teenagers are taking 50% more than the recommended level. This means that their consumption is 150%. Of this 150%, 30% of the sugar is consumed from soft drinks.

Let the recommended consumption = 100g
Current intake = 150% fo 100 = 150g
Consumption by sugary drinks = 30% of 150 = 45 g

If their consumption from soft drinks is reduced to one-third, the new consumption = 1/3 x 45 = 15g
Reduction = 45 – 15 = 30g

So the new overall consumption = 150-30 = 120g

This 120% of the recommended level. So it is 20% above the recommended level.
